Labour

The Department of Labour facilitates harmonious industrial relations through effective enforcement of various labour laws, protecting and safeguarding the interests of workers.It is also committed to create healthy work environment for smooth production process and facilitating vocational skill development for enhanced employability. The Government’s attention is also focused on promoting the welfare and providing social security to the labour force of both organized and unorganized sectors. These objectives are sought to be achieved through enactment and implementation of various labour laws, which regulate the terms and conditions of service and employment of workers. In industrial disputes, the department is the instrument for conciliation and conflict resolution between the labour and the management. Department also take care of industrial health and safety ensuring no workers become a victim of accident at workplace.

Departmental Schemes:

  • Madhya Pradesh Bhawan and other construction workers welfare board

    A board for the welfare of the building and other construction workers under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of employment and terms of service) Act 1996 read with Rule 251 of the Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of employment and terms of service) Rules, 2002 has been constituted by the State Government notification dated 9 April 2003. More than 90 percent of the workers of the country and the state are working in the unorganized sector and a large section of these unorganized workers are of the construction workers (workers). By the month of January 2020, a total of 7,533 construction workers have been registered through the labor service portal under the said scheme.

  • Madhya Pradesh Unorganized Workers Welfare Board (Naya Savera Scheme) 2018

    The workers employed in the unorganized sector could not raise their voice for social security and upliftment. Taking a historic decision, the Madhya Pradesh State Government has made a unique plan for the welfare and upliftment of the workers employed in the unorganized sector. To give the benefit of this scheme, the workers have been registered on the online portal. By the month of January 2020, a total of 1,46,267 unorganized workers in the district have been registered through the labor service portal under the said scheme.
